It is the mission of the Mountain Lions Sports Medicine Program to continually strive towards providing the best possible athletic health care for student-athlete's at Young Harris College. The Mountain Lion Sports Medicine Program continually improves upon the current knowledge available in the sports medicine field regarding the newest treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention techniques. These improvements require continual upgrade of equipment, facilities, and resources to provide the best atmosphere for success and prepare athletes for success at the next level. The education of student athletes in injury prevention, nutrition, training techniques, and healthy choices for life is also a top priority of the program.

Athletic Training Education Program

The Athletic Training Education Program at Young Harris College combines a strong academic program with hands on practical experience working directly with the athletic teams to prepare students to transfer to their four year institution.

The successful student will complete an associate of science degree with a concentration in athletic training. Students will learn the basics of anatomy, injury evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and training room administration. This is achieved using lecture, practical laboratory work, and assisting with team practice and game coverage. YHC offers the unique opportunity for students to start working in the training room with the athletic teams as a freshman instead of waiting until their junior year, which is common practice at four year institutions.
